Ziwa Rhino and Wildlife Ranch, located in Nakasongola district, is the proud home of the only wild rhinos in Uganda. This sanctuary is the result of a collaboration between Rhino Fund Uganda and Uganda Wildlife Authority, with the aim of reintroducing rhinos into the country.

Location and Getting There

We are conveniently located 176km (100 miles) north of Kampala on the Gulu highway towards Murchison Falls. To reach the ranch, simply branch off at Nakitoma trading centre. The ease of access makes Ziwa Rhino & Wildlife Ranch a popular destination for travelers.

The Rhinos

Ziwa is the only place in Uganda where you can observe rhinos in their natural habitat. The sanctuary is currently home to twelve southern white rhinos, including six adults, three adolescents, and three babies. Additionally, two of the adult females are expected to give birth in the coming year, adding to the rhino population.
